Blocked Drain Right Now? Call Botany's Drain Team

A drain spilling over the kitchen floor won't hold on until morning. Call (02) 9072 0545 and a real person answers, day or night, 365 days a year.

You'll speak to a licensed plumber, not an answering machine. We'll talk you through the next few minutes and agree the price before any work starts.

While you wait, turn off any taps and leave the toilet alone. Keep the family back from the wet floor, and don't try to plunge or bail it yourself.

Catch it early

How to Tell Your Drain Is Blocking

A drain almost always warns you first, and catching it early keeps the fix smaller and cheaper. Here's what to watch for.

  • The sink empties too slowly. Water lingers instead of dropping straight away, which usually means a partial blockage building up further down the line.
  • A glug or gurgle when you flush. Air trapped behind the blockage escapes back up through the pipe. Often a blocked toilet or the line it shares.
  • A sour, sewage-like smell. Waste is sitting and breaking down inside the pipe, a sign the sewer line is starting to choke.
  • The yard drain fills after rain. The outside pit surcharges because the flow has nowhere to go, common once stormwater lines silt up.
  • The toilet bowl level shifts on its own. It rises or drops without a flush, telling you the fault sits downstream of the pan, not in it.
  • A soggy patch on the lawn. Water is escaping a cracked pipe below ground, worth a camera inspection before the section gives way.

Spot two of these together and it's time to call, before a slow drain turns into a full backup.

How we work

How We Clear a Drain Properly

We don't guess and hope. We find the cause, clear it, and prove it's gone in four steps, every job.

  1. 01

    First Call, Full Quote

Someone picks up and gets you booked in. You have the full quote up front, so you decide with the price in hand before we roll.

  2. 02

    Camera Down the Line

We run a drain camera to pin down exactly where the blockage is and what it's made of. Nothing gets dug up on a guess, and we never clear the wrong pipe.

  3. 03

    Cleared With the Right Tool

Roots and grease call for a high-pressure jetter; a solid object calls for an electric eel. What the camera showed decides which one goes down the pipe.

  4. 04

    Proven Clear, Then Options

We camera the line again so you see it running free. If the pipe needs a repair or no-dig reline, we lay out the options and the warranty.

Local knowledge

What Causes Blocked Drains in Botany

Botany grew as a working suburb where homes and industry went up side by side, and its pipes tell that story. Federation terraces and old fibro beach-shack cottages sit next to post-war brick and newer mid-rise, so the ground carries everything from brittle earthenware sewers to modern PVC.

The soil is the twist here. Botany sits on the porous Botany Sands beds, so fine sand washes into cracked joints and silts up the line from the inside.

Add the shallow water table and older clay pipe, and roots have both moisture and a way in. On the streets around Anniversary Street, that combination is behind a lot of the recurring blockages we clear.

Then there's grease. The dense cafe and food strip along Botany Road pushes fat and oil into commercial and shared drains, and it hardens where the pipe narrows.

Wet weather does the rest. Low foreshore streets near Sir Joseph Banks Park drain slowly, so a heavy storm surcharges the stormwater system and pushes water back up the gully.

It's why so many drain jobs cluster in the same few days after rain. A CCTV inspection sorts a one-off silt-up from a pipe that keeps failing.

Straight pricing

What a Blocked Drain Quote Depends On

There's no flat fee for a blocked drain, because no two blockages are the same. What we can promise is a fixed price you approve before we touch anything, with no call-out fee to see it.

The number tends to hinge on a handful of things:

  • Access. A cleanout at ground level is quicker to reach than a pipe buried below a slab or tucked down a tight terrace side path.
  • Where the blockage is. A trap right under the sink clears fast; a fault out near the boundary shaft needs more time and heavier gear.
  • Roots or a break. Cutting through root mass or patching a broken section is a bigger job than flushing out soft sludge.
  • Whether the pipe needs relining. A no-dig reline runs higher up front than a straight clear, but it stops the line failing all over again.

In the community, for the community

A Family Business That Gives Back to the Community

We've worked these suburbs for years, living where we work. In the community, for the community is not a slogan for us, it's how the business started and how it still runs.

Between jobs, we back Ronald McDonald House Charities Sydney, Beyond Blue, Wayside Chapel and Pink Ribbon Day, and we turn up at neighbourhood events across the seasons.

It's the same reason a neighbour near Botany Road will flag us down for a quick look. We're not a franchise passing through; we're the team that answers when it's your turn.

Common questions

Blocked Drains Botany FAQs

Quick answers to what local homeowners ask us most. Still stuck? Call (02) 9072 0545 and a real person will talk it through.

How quickly can you get to a blocked drain in Botany?

We guarantee a licensed plumber on-site in 30 minutes. Real people answer the phone day or night, so if a drain backs up on Bay Street at 2am, someone is already heading your way.

What suburbs do you service around Botany?

We cover the whole suburb and the neighbouring Bayside streets, including Mascot, Pagewood, Eastgardens, Eastlakes and Tempe. Each has its own local drain page if you want the detail for your street.

Are your plumbers licensed and insured?

Yes. Every job is carried out by a licensed plumber under NSW plumbing licence #275278C, and we carry $20 million public liability insurance. You can ask to see either before we start.

Can you clear tree roots out of a drain?

We do it often. Roots chase moisture into cracked clay joints under Botany's older cottages, so a high-pressure jetter shreds them out and the camera then checks how far the damage runs.

What should I do while I wait for the plumber?

Shut off the taps and resist flushing again. Move everyone back from the wet area and leave the mess for us. Our plumber will talk you through it on the phone, so you are not guessing.

How much does it cost to clear a blocked drain in Botany?

There's a $0 call-out fee and a free on-site quote. You approve the price before we start, and nothing extra gets added later. Book online and take $50 off.
